The
Grand Commander of the Lion Republic yesterday, released a statement on the welfare
of the citizens of the Lion republic (UNN). In his statement, he also seized
the opportunity to address the hike in prize of fees in UNN. This is following
the earlier statement released by the senate house. He however, as
usual, requested the view/opinion of the Lion republican (Great UNN students).
This
gesture of the President have since appointment been one that have in all ways
incorporated the decision of the students. It could be recalled that during
the shuttle strike couple of months back the President deemed it fit to request
the view of the students even before making declarations/decisions with his
executives. He is however at it again as he call upon lions and lionesses to
share their views.
This
statement also reassures with no doubt whatsoever that the freshers going ito
the boys hostel for 2017/2018 session will be greeted with new mattresses.

Just
as you're enjoying the comfort of home, The SUG executives has took it upon
themselves to stay back and prepare the Den to be better on your resumption.
It’s
a very poor remark and undoubtedly insult on the face of university of Nigeria
that as great as the Den is, they still allow Nigeria students sleep on a not
less than 30 years old beg-bug ridden mattresses, that can't even be inhabited
by all animals.
A
day has never passed with me thinking about it.
In
regard to what I told Nigerian students on 04/16/2017, about improving life in
boys hostel, i am pleased to inform y'all that as I speak to you, we have three
thousand (3,000) new mattresses ready for Nigerian students.
It
may not be soothing, but I still have to plead with you to bear with us as the
mattresses might not be enough for the whole boys in the hostel. But from the
incoming 1st years, boys will be getting nothing less than first hand mattress.
Furthermore,
the rumour about the striking increase in the cost of change of degree has been
hovering round the school. In response to that, I wish to inform you that we
aren't unaware that the margin of increase is alarming. And so, we've provided
the Nigeria students with option from which we'd take further action following
your responses and suggestions.
The
university administration has given their reason for the increase to be as a
result of unimaginable numbers of students trooping to few department leading
to some departments being student-rich, while others are student-deficient.
They
initially wanted to scrap change of degree entire, but on a second thought made
the price very huge to scare people that may have wanted away.
I
now want to know if we should
Scrap
change of degree totally, or
or
still reduce the price to fifty thousand Naira #50,000.
Your
suggestions, advices and opinions will go a long way in helping us serve you
better.
