The
Students' Union Government led by Comr. Joshua Ezejah in the bid to
curtail all forms of discrepancy pertaining to the general welfare of the
students of the University of Nigeria have released a statement on the price of
food in the University Community. The cost of food which is on the increase
have triggered the attention of the ever helping SUG of UNN. The Student Union
Government which have in resent times being of great help to students of the
University poses to take up another freedom that cometh by struggle
campaign on Food price. Following the resent normalization of passengers in
shuttle, students have no choice that to trust greatly in the capability of the
union government.
It
is hoped sincerely, that this campaign of Normalizing of food price pulls
through.
The
president in his statement called upon students to make sure they report any
form of deviation from the set price of food.
Bellow
is the statement released;
OFFICE
OF THE PRESIDENT
STUDENTS
' UNION GOVERNMENT,
UNIVERSITY
OF NIGERIA,
Important
Notice: FOOD PRICE ADJUSTMENT IN VENDORS
In
consonance with the "Recession" a lot of sellers and service
providers have increased the price of the goods and/or the services they
provide.
The
"Recession Excuse" has become the basis to slap on any percentage
increase without rational and logistical reason. This has been done in the most
unfair manner. Price-increase dynamics should be curtailed by a commerce price
regulating body to protect consumerism. Therefore, whether it's Recession, the
retail price of fuel or any other catalyst of rise in price of goods, Price
increase ought to be done rationally.
Food
vendors in UNN are not void of this fault, as many students have complained
bitterly on the ceaseless increase in price of food in SUB, CHITIS, MARLIMA and
all alike.
The
SUG in attempt to curb over-pricing carried out a survey to adjust the cost
these vendors sell their food.
This
message therefore, is a public notice that the uniform price of food in every
vendor in UNN has been set to N300 for a plate of food and meat.
For
the Students' Union Government, Students' welfare is top priority and will not
be compromised. We therefore urge you to report any discrepancy or discordance
from this set price, N300 for a plate of food and meat.

#300 for a plate of food is expensive in a student environment if food sales @ 250 outside school its cruel to have it @ N300 .
